OUTLANDER : BLOOD OF MY BLOOD

As mentioned in a previous post, I finally made it onto one of my favourite television series, the brilliant OUTLANDER historical epic series. As stated earlier I had auditioned 13 times for both the original series and this prequel series, set 50 years earlier, without success. Huge thanks to Simone & Anna for their faith

in me and for bringing me in for auditions for every series, until finally the right part came along! My previous agent Daniel Tasker had first alerted me to the production a year before it was announced and encouraged me to read the books the series was based on. As an amateur historian who is obsessed by

this period of Scottish history, I was immediately captivated by Diana's writing and the world of OUTLANDER. My first audition was back in 2014, whilst on tour with KIDNAPPED in which I played Jacobite hero Alan Breck. Sadly I had a dates clash with the end of this UK tour and my Outlander

quest put on hold. Over the next few years I tried out for various roles in every series but to no avail and  was dismayed to get to the final series without success. Thankfully the story was continued with the announcement of prequel BLOOD OF MY BLOOD and hastily another self-tape went in but again it

was yet another 'no' until the role of a Minister in Episodes 6 & 7 finally was offered to me last year, a full decade after my first audition for this epic show. Here are a selection of photos from the set, courtesy of Lord Lovat himself, Tony Curran, who has since become a great friend and was a joy to work with.

My character has some pivotal scenes involving births, marriages and an untimely death at the hands of the lovely Chic Allan, of Gladiator fame, and whom I worked with on a CULLODEN film many years ago. A great guy and a brilliant 'death' heralded the end of my time on the show, but great to meet so many brilliant folk on this and to work with lots of old pals at long last.

Never give up is the message here. It took me 10 years to land a role on this show and was worth the wait. I was so looking forward to working with my old pal Brian McCardie again until he sadly passed away during the filming, a remarkably gifted actor and a great friend and was pleased to note these episodes were dedicated to his memory. OUTLANDER:BLOOD OF MY BLOOD is streaming now on MGM+
