April 2016 - The Diary

Kicked off April and a new tax year with a fun screening and Q&A session for CRIMELORD at the GMAC's excellent screening room in Glasgow and really pleased with my scenes as the unhinged Ewan Ford, MSP. You can catch my episode here: CRIMELORD Episode 2

Then back to Pacific Audio in Glasgow for three TV voice - over demos and great to catch up with the guys there after so many years! Landed more voice work with Preston Council. There soon won't be a public space anywhere in the North of England without my dulcet tones ringing out announcements!

Back in the car and off to Murrayshall Hotel for another brilliant corporate gig for PETER VARDY and the reappearance of 'Fun-Time Freddie', my decaying Yorkshire comedian Quiz Show host! Great fun and super audience and again always nice working regularly with the same client.

My old collaborator Fraser Coull asked me to do some performance poetry on film in various locations around the west end of Glasgow and good fun and nice to catch up with him. Another exciting audition and a mad dash to Inverness, then to London again and my first day's filming on Simon Baker's new movie 90 MINUTES at my old stomping ground Hackney Marshes. Brilliant fun with a top cast and crew and looking forward to returning next month for another action-packed London shoot!

I had to then drive immediately to Glasgow and another epic round trip of 1500 miles in the car for another film audition, then back to Radio Clyde for voice work on HAMILTON PARK and BORDER MOTORS. Then it was time to get my pirate costume and beard on again with another run of CAPTAIN MORGAN gigs around Scotland, kicking off in Edinburgh's Liquid Rooms for a great gig.

Then it was time to pull on the boots and gloves for goalkeeping duties with the Scotland Writers Fc match against the Scottish Sports Jounalists at New Central Park, home of my great grandfather's first club, Renfrew Juniors. On a perfect surface and night for football we got humped 0-9 and I spent the entire match picking the ball out of the net. Great fun though and vowed never to play in that position again!

London calling again for another COLOPLAST event at The Pullman Hotel, King's Cross and rehearsals for 90 MINUTES at Green Park with Simon Baker, then the train back to Glasgow for another CPS voice-over at Pacific Audio. A fun, action-packed month of diverse work and a lot of travel but worthwhile and booked more work for May and June!
