April 2022 - The Diary

April saw the eventual release of feature film 83 on Netflix! It is streaming now if you want to give it a watch! In Hindi and English, and starring the brilliant Ranveer Singh as the famed skipper, Kapil Dev.

Following on from last month's announcement, we are delighted to announce that last year's smash hit show THE TOMMY BURNS Story will be back, at the wonderful KING'S THEATRE in Glasgow from

the 7th - 9th of July 2022 and tickets are now on sale from the King's ATG box office. Get them quick as this show sold out  very quickly last time and can't wait to see the show again in this wonderful place!

Off to Leeds again this month for the first COLOPLAST UK live roleplay event with the lovely team above and our first gig for over two years due to the pandemic. Hopefully we have more events now in

the diary for this year! To Ayrshire next for costume fittings and rehearsals for my next short film, titled HAWKER, set in WW1 in the Royal Flying Corps, pictured above on the brilliant set. More NHS work this month too and delighted to see the music video CROWS released and entered into film festivals

and love this retro 60's poster that has been issued for our short film. A great shoot and song and hope it will continue to garner more awards. And another short film, the eagerly anticipated 1815 had it's first

screening at the GFT this month for the cast and crew and am blown away by how well made this little low budget film is. The acting, direction & cinematography are wonderful and I feel very lucky to be

the villain of the piece! The film is now touring the world in various festivals and will keep you posted as this really deserves success and to be expanded into a feature length movie. There was more roleplay
work this month with Blue Beetle for DEMATIC, which was great and nice to work with Graham again.

On the 7th of April WHY ME? finally was broadcast on the Sky Arts channel to a great reception and was brilliant to see. Great comedic performances all round and is now available streaming on NOW TV

and was produced by DBK Studios and Sky Studios as part of their Unearthed Narratives series. You can check out all 5 of their short films now also streaming on the same site. Delighted to be asked by Sara

Gatland, with whom I have worked before, to come to a lovely sunny Broughty Ferry to shoot her musical short film, THE SELKIE'S SONG as a cruel old Fisherman harbouring a dark secret. Loved working on

this one and really enjoyed the experience. Unfortunately I succumbed to the dreaded Covid 19 after this shoot, causing me to have to pull out of HAWKER and was seriously floored by the illness for two weeks.

Once recovered I was delighted to be invited along to my old pal Scott Kyle's touring play, the very moving and important ONE MISSISSIPPI in Easterhouse's Platform Theatre and great to catch up with Scott after the show. The play is touring venues in Central Scotland now and should not be missed!

March 2022 - The Diary

At last, another Scotland Writers FC match against the auld enemie this month as the England Writers travelled to Scotland for the annual Hamilton Crescent Cup match, which has been postponed several

times due to Covid. I met up with the England folks the night before the game, including my former agent Daniel Tasker and had a great night. The game at Glasgow Green was a tight affair, but delighted to report

we finally won back the cup and you can see how much I enjoyed that in the photo below, despite a crushing hangover! Great result & fab event after the match at the BAAD venue in Gallowgate in

which I read from one of Billy Letford's wonderful poems. Some publicity stills from the wonderful short film 1815 were released this month in advance of our upcoming screening and loved this shot of my nasty

character as well as the fab new poster for the film, which will also be going on the festival circuit, starting in Dunoon in the next few months. In other news, I have another short film scheduled to screen in the next

few weeks on Sky Arts. Below is a still courtesy of DBK Studios of my character Mr Perry in Nikki Fagbemi's superb film, WHY ME? Really looking forward to finally getting to watch it as I had such

a good time with this cast making the film. Also this month our film 83 has won Best Film Of The Year at the 21st ITA Awards! Congratulations to everyone involved as the film is superb! And finally this month

I am delighted to announce that I will be Producing the long awaited stage sequel to Trainspotting, PORNO. Adapted from the book by my producing partner Davie Carswell, we are bringing this new

show to The Pleasance Beyond venue for the whole of August 2022! Watch this space for details...

February 2022 - The Diary

Another month of travel and roleplay work with Police Scotland and the NHS and yet more auditions courtesy IAM and a couple of film offers that sadly fell through! Had a first look at the sizzle reel for

ORIGINS OF THE LAOICH series and it looks great and excited for you all to eventually see it! This month saw the UK release of cricket masterpiece, Kabir Khan's 83, which was screening in The Quay

Cineworld to a great reaction and I loved it! I play the character Toor's Boss, a rough old garage owner in London who won't let him go to the game, pictured below, and was a joy to have been a part of and the

the film's cricket action scenes are wonderfully realistic and emotive and the feature totally encapsulates the atmosphere and characters in the tournament in England in 1983, when India rocked the world by defeating the West Indies in the Cricket World Cup Final. The film will be released on Netflix soon!

January 2022 - The Diary

Happy New Year folks! Short film RATS is now in the edit and back to more Roleplay work this month again with NHS Lanarkshire and with Police Scotland, touring around Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness

and another raft of castings and self-tapes and again, huge thanks to my agent IAM for keeping me busy this month! I signed a deal this month for a football project which will be announced later this summer!

Back to Aberdeen for more roleplay work this month, staying at the wonderful Chester Hotel and thank you to the lovely staff there for a great stay! I was all over the north of Scotland this month on this job

and great to be back! Then back to Glasgow and more NHS roleplay gigs and more self-tapes and delighted to see the world television premiere of Shoojit Sirkar's epic feature film SARDAR UDHAM

which will soon be coming to the United Kingdom on Amazon Prime! Will keep you posted...!

December 2021 - The Diary

Back in the car and down to a chilly Northampton this month to shoot another excellent short film with Greyhound Productions and directed by Matthew Summer. Another really enjoyable shoot with a fab

cast and friendly crew and really good script, entitled RATS. I play a brusque ratcatcher named Pat and the film will be out next year. Just the one day shoot for me on this and then back to Scotland for a voiceover

for Nick Knight and more horse-riding and hopefully landed another 'horsey' role for a feature film in 2023. Fingers crossed! First poster release details announced for the eagerly anticipated Bollywood film

which will be released in cinemas in India on the 24th of this month, with the film out in the UK next year. More roleplay work as well this month with NHS Lanarkshire and have more booked in for 2022. So, despite the continuing Covid-19 epidemic and various delays, lockdowns (and a lots of testing) it was another good year and have a good few projects still due to come out & hit the Festival circuit in 2022.

November 2021 - The Diary

My second episode of GUILT was screened early November, in which I play dodgy Property Developer Davie and had a couple of fab scenes and was just lovely to work with Mark Bonnar at long last. On the

BBC Iplayer now if you want to watch it on catch-up. Then it was back to producing duties with the first run of Davie Carswell's new play, THE TOMMY BURNS STORY which played for 4 nights at the home

of Glasgow Celtic FC in the club's Kerrydale suite to a sold out audience. I attended the brilliant opening night and huge thanks to everyone who came along and to all at Celtic for hosting the show (below).

The cast were amazing and we were honoured to have the Manager, Ange Postecoglou in attendance and a joy to meet him after the show backstage and thank you to him for his ongoing support of the play. I kept

up the riding lessons since I wrapped on 1815 and back to Busby Equitation Centre again this month and reunited with my trusty steed 'Captain' seen above! More auditions and booked another film for December

before that, however, we had a fabulous cast & crew screening and day out for new Britbox series CRIME in Glasgow, with a fun dinner with Irvine Welsh, Gavin Mitchell and Tam Dean Burn at Sarti's and then to

my favourite Scottish cinema The GFT for the screening. Lovely to catch up with the cast and crew and lots of old pals and thrilled to see the first few episodes of this dark, brilliant drama series, with Dougray

Scott in the lead role of 'Lennox' in brilliant form, pictured above! It was a brilliant late late night and just a great production to be a part of. The series is being released this month and you can watch it streaming

from November on Britbox UK. I play Miles Combe and had a lovely scene with the brilliant Angela Griffin, pictured below, in the series inspired by Irvine Welsh's novel of the same name. It is brilliant!

Finally this month we were delighted to raise a great sum of money from the programme sales from the play for The Celtic Foundation Charity, so thank you to everyone who donated. The show will be going

ahead again next summer in a Glasgow theatre, details to follow in due course. A top month with great company, projects now all coming out & a brilliant theatre run to boot and booked another trip South!!

October 2021 - The Diary

I worked on some excellent short film projects this month, kicking off October with another Roleplay gig with WHEATLEY before heading down to the Borders to shoot THE WAKE with old pals Jamie and Scott Forrest (Director) with whom I have worked in the past & great to see them again and to play

a drunken uncle at a sad family funeral. Great shoot with a lovely cast and enjoyable trip and brilliant location to boot! Back up to Glasgow for my next shoot, reuniting with the team from Dropshack Film

once again to prep locations and then to shoot Jack Willison's latest short, entitled TUG. Another unsavoury character to play, a guy in a bar who bites off more than he can chew and another film

due to come out next year. Great fun working with these guys again and fab to be back at Cathkin Park, my spiritual home, to shoot the end scene of the film. I am working on another side project that involves

the old ground, a book project that will be announced in 2022. Photos here all courtesy of Team Dropshack and are behind the scenes on TUG. There was a bit of Additional Dialogue Recording

to record on WHY ME? for the edit, then, at long last SARDAR UDHAM was finally released, having been delayed a year due to Covid-19. In the United Kingdom it can now be viewed on Amazon Prime

So, here's a wee BTS shot of myself as King George VI with Winston Churchill, shooting in the wonderful Palace at Leningrad in St Petersburg! What a dream job this one was and a thrilling adventure in Russia.

The film is on an epic scale and an electrifying performance from Vicky Kaushal in the lead role of Udham Singh. The film has already received rave reviews in India and please give it a watch on Prime.

Next up was a return to Team Dropshack and yet another 48 Hour Film Challenge in Glasgow, with the usual crew and a fabbo cast and shot in great locations all over the southside of the city. Here's a still

from the shoot and the official poster of our latest film, a wonderful revenge musical thriller titled WAKEY WAKEY...in which I once again play a monster who has a terrible revenge exacted upon

him. The film went down well at the GFT screening (pictured above with the Crew) and I came in for some tirades of abuse afterwards! Happy with that though and another really fun, fun shoot, Directed by Jack Willison once more! If you want to check out the film, it can now be viewed on Youtube, so

you can watch it here: WAKEY WAKEY Also this month, series 2 of GUILT was screened and I popped up in an episode on the 21st. Such an enjoyable gig and fab to be a part of eventually and the second

series is proving as excellent as the first. More to come on this next month. Finished off the month with more ADR work, this time on REMNANTS, with a teaser bts photo below from the final edit. Out soon
